Acid and Alkaline
Research shows that people who are sick usually have an acidic blood condition. This tells us that the delicate acid /alkaline balance of our blood plays a critical role in our health and vitality. This is also referred to as our PH balance. Our blood is rarely too alkaline because the modern diet focuses on acid-forming proteins, like meat and dairy products, additionally most bodily functions create acid in the body.
We naturally balance the acid/alkaline in the body by breathing. The breath removes acids from the body before they can build up and cause pain, inflammation or eventually disease. Therefore exercises such as yoga and pranayama (breathing exercises) can be very helpful in returning to full health.
If we are not exercising and breathing deeply on a regular basis, and if we eat an imbalanced diet, our body becomes overly-acidic, our immune system suffers, we catch colds and flues more easily and if we don't improve our health this acidic condition weakens us and leads to sickness and disease.
